5 Simple SEO tips to quickly improve your Google Rankings

Websites live and die by their traffic. The more traffic a website gets, the more chances it has of getting those visitors to interact with it in some way, be it to buy something or to sign up for a subscription or a service.

When it comes to getting traffic, it all comes down to getting good rankings on search engines result pages because the higher a site is featured in the results pages for a related search, the more traffic it will get since people will know that they will find what they are looking for there.

SEO or Search Engine Optimization is all about improving your results pages rankings by making your website more compatible with the ranking criteria used by the search engines and especially Google.

It is a very complicate process that people have spent many years perfecting by studying searches and results and trying to figure out Google’s famous algorithm.

If you are just getting started with your site or if your site is relatively new and you want to get as much traffic as possible, here are some tricks that experts like SEO Dominator use to optimize a site and improve its ranking.

Write title tags

If you ever Google something you will see that above the results there is a small text in blue that is actually the link that you click to get to the site. That text is called a title tag and it is one of the most important aspects of SEO.

You should write titles tags for every page in your website, if you don’t know how there is no need to worry: the process is rather easy.

Just Google it! Your tags should be catchy and they shouldn’t be more than 65 characters long in order for them to be displayed in their entirety.

Use pictures (with tags)

Web crawlers – the programs that search engines use to “scan” sites – love photos, whoch is why you should try to get at least one or two on every page of your site.

Here’s the thing though, in order for a photo to really improve your SEO, you will need to also add a tag to it – again, it’s a very easy process, just Google it! – which will essentially tell the crawler what’s in the picture.

This way you might get clicks by people looking for whatever is depicted on your site’s photos.

Get rid of the clutter

If there is one thing that search engines hate it’s slow loading pages. There are many tools online that can help you see how fast your page is loading.

If those speeds are not fast – the tools will tell you that – then you definitely need to take action. You will need to get rid of scripts, widgets, Flash applications and anything else that might be bringing down the loading speed of your pages.

A clean minimalistic look is all the rage when it comes to web design, after all!

Don’t rely on automatically generated URLs

While there is nothing wrong with the URLs generated by your CMS platform in a mechanical sense, things aren’t the same when it comes to SEO.

A string of random numbers and letters is nowhere near as sexy as a URL that contains actual text and information.

Manually write your URLs using hyphens and keywords in order to create better looking URLS that will make the job of search engines much easier and will therefore improve your ranking.

Write good content and often

Finally we have one of the most important aspects of a website: its content. High quality and plagiarism free content will get your visitors to stay in your site for a long time instead of just visiting for a few seconds and that engagement speaks volumes to search engines: it essentially shows that your site is interesting and authoritative.

Your content should be updated on a regular basis, since search engines tend to prioritize active sites over stagnating ones. It goes without saying that you should try to incorporate keywords in a natural and organic way within your context.
